Infrastructure Monitoring

The SCI-UC infrastructure provides a monitoring platform based on Ganglia Monitor, which allows users to visualize and analyze the usage of computational resources across the available clusters.

ganglia

The monitoring service is accessible through the following web interface:
http://monitor.sci.unican.es

Access

Access to the monitoring platform is open to all users and does not require authentication.

However, access must be made either through the UC VPN or from devices connected to the university’s wired network.

Each research group has a dedicated monitoring view, which can be accessed by specifying the group name as registered in the URS (User Registration System) in the URL.

For example:
http://monitor.sci.unican.es/geocean

Users will only be able to view information corresponding to the clusters and resources associated with their research group.

Available Information

The monitoring platform provides near real-time and historical metrics, including:

  • CPU usage and load
  • Memory consumption
  • Disk usage and I/O activity
  • Network traffic
  • Node availability and status

These metrics allow users to better understand system performance and optimize the usage of allocated resources.

Usage Scope

Each research group has access to a dedicated view of the infrastructure, enabling them to:

  • Monitor the activity of their assigned clusters
  • Track resource utilization over time
  • Identify potential bottlenecks or inefficiencies
  • Support performance analysis for ongoing projects

Notes

  • The monitoring system is intended for informational and analytical purposes only.
  • No authentication is required; access is determined by the group-specific URL.
  • Users must connect through the UC VPN or from the university’s wired network.
  • If you experience issues accessing the platform or require additional information, please contact the support team at soporte.sci@unican.es.
